INFORMATION ABOUT THE CONGRESS:

The wonderful presentations will take us on a tour of the entire southeastern region of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, but also introduce us to art, astronomy, political power, sports, ceramics, serial dynasties, the exterior architecture and the true submerged underworld. 

The highlight was the “scientifically rigorous” approach to archaeological rescue, with the support of international universities and the help of governments and multilateral organizations. Temples and tombs have been rescued, tunnels have been excavated, archaeological research centers have been established, publications have been produced, habitats have been reconstructed and the entire process has been shared freely with local, national, regional and international populations.

The observed consequences are clear: the social, cultural, environmental and economic development of the region known as the Mayan world has achieved achievements that, although they do not yet reach the development indicators expected by humanity, are already significant. 

The call for this congress will successfully bring together scientists from archaeology, anthropology, history and other disciplines from Copán, Honduras, to provide fascinating knowledge and discoveries about the Mayan culture, which demonstrated that in addition to economic rescue efforts and the value of the culture Maya.
