La cuenca del lago Yojoa es probablemente la cuenca con mayor diversidad de aves en toda Honduras. A la orilla del lago hay hoteles con personalidad muy propia y a los lados de la carretera existe una gran cantidad de restaurantes y comedores donde el principal plato es el pescado frito al estilo \u201cdel lago\u201d, con tajadas de pl\u00e1tano y encurtido.<\/p><p>Se estima que cerca de 500 especies de aves ocurren en la cuenca cada a\u00f1o, en un \u00e1rea de menos de 1,000 km2.
